A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
