Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
