In the two scenarios, Albanian children were the largest group to vanish, accounting for 50% the overall number from the temporary accommodations, 68, and over 25% from the reception centres, 65.

In late 2023, after a protracted legal proceeding involving unaccompanied minor refugees missing from all temporary accommodations, the custom of routinely accommodating children in hotels was ruled unlawful.

As an alternative, officials pledged to enhance safeguards for these children by enlarging the use of reception centres. Following that legal decision another 44 children have gone missing from these facilities, with 10 remaining unaccounted for and 34 found.
