The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial championship series after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.
Toronto secured the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
